APRIL 27, 2009. NEW MIX OF MT. PURGATORY UP

MARK A: Many of the mixes that we currently have up in the album section of the Purgatory Home Companion are out of date, as Rob has added his lyrics and vocals to the instrumental tracks, but I have not yet transferred them from Garage Band to Pro Tools. Today I can report that I have finished moving the vocals for the number four song in our parade of hits, Mt. Purgatory, over to my system and have made a rough mix of the results. Doubtless there will be further changes to this song, but for now I've got the new mix up on the album page. Click here to hear it.

MARCH 23, 2009. PROGRESS REPORT ON OUR SITE

MARK A: I've been thinking through how the music section of our site will work. Think I've got a workable plan, and will be implementing it this week. There will be a main music page with links to other sub-pages which will have the actual playable music. The first sub-page will be the "album" site, which will have the most recent copies of all the Purgatory Home Companion tunes in sequence. This page will be updated as new mixes are made and new songs are created. The other sub-pages will be the individual song pages. There will be one page for each song, and the playlist will contain the most recent mix of that song plus all of the individual contributions used in the song, in their raw state and in the form that they were used. Hope this works out and hope all of you out there enjoy the results. Cheers.

MARCH 3, 2009. MAKING PROGRESS ON THE MUSIC PAGE

MARK A: Today I was able to figure out how to get the music page up and running. I've got 11 of the songs loaded into the player and I've got the template for the information that goes with each song in place. Many of the songs currently loaded in the player are the instrumental tracks, as we still have not done our recording sessions for the lead vocals. Also, some of the tracks are not the most current versions as i haven't caught up with making MP3s for everything. All this will come in time.

At this stage what Rob and I intend to do is to fill in the story behind each song. Rob will provide the back story, relating where each song fits into the Purgatory narrative and why you should care about it. I will fill in the technical info about each song -- who the contributors were, how we developed each track, what we've got planned as far as finishing each track up. In the mean time the rough mixes of various tracks are up and running and can be listened to in real time.

If anyone has any comments for us about the tracks or the web site, you can email us at purgatory@zenjam.com.

FEB. 26, 2009. WE'RE GETTING BACK IN TOUCH

MARK A: Writing in today in my capacity as default web-master, which at best is a mis-labelling of my internet skills. The news here is that we decided we should re-contact all of our contributors. It has been a long time since this project got underway. A majority of the contributions came in around 3 years ago as I recall, and some are as old as 10 years. Since we are finally getting this project presentable enough to show people what we're doing, and since we would like to list and link to all our contributors, we will be emailing you soon to advise you of our progress, let you know about this web site, and to get your permission to list you here and link to any other sites you may have on the Web. We will be looking for a short bio from all of you, a recent photo we can post here, and a short list of your Web links. So look out for that email from Rob K. And thanks, to all of you!

FEB. 20, 2009. WEB SITE CONSTRUCTION BEGINS

MARK A: Today I began to construct the Purgatory web site. A difficult task but with the help of Dreamweaver and my cousin David, the rocket scientist, we are beginning to see some progress. Of course, until we've got this thing functioning and looking good, no-one but Rob and I (and David, the rocket scientist) will be seeing this. But I'll leave these posts up for fun and to take up space as long as it's working for us.
So Rob, I've got the home page up, checked out the links and made them all work. You might want to re-write your text on the home page, as I've faked your voice and only guessed at wht you'd like to say. I made a contact page and made the links on that page work too. I have email links to you and I, but you might want to create a gmail account for yourself so I don't have to use your personal email address. let me know when you do that. Also let me know if you want to add or subtract any links from the list of links that appears on the page.
This entry is the first on the news page. Additional news bits, mostly notices of updates to this site, will be dropped in at the top of the page as we post them. If you have anything you want to put in this page, just send me the text in an email and I'll make it appear. The video and photo pages will be left until later, as I would like to concentrate on the contributors and music pages. If you have any videos or photos you would like to make available on this site get them together and send them to me on a DVD. They should probably be specifically Purgatory related. We've got links to other sites with video and photos, such as the Uncle Butcher/Rob K project.
